Why Are Retirees Looking Towards Belize?

by Admin on March 11, 2010

As I have traveled throughout the U.S. and Canada this past year, I have noticed that more retirees are looking overseas. THE emerging market that retirees are looking towards is Belize. Why is this? There are many reasons why Belize is attracting retirees. One of the most important reasons retirees are looking towards Belize is because of the tax savings. Belize income tax is only 10%. This is significantly less than the U.S., U.K., and Canada. Belize has no inheritance or estate tax, and very low property taxes. The government of Belize has created a retirement program with many tax and duty advantages to attract foreign retirees. A great source of information on the Belize Retirement program is to visit their website here. When people are retiring, the plan is to keep your expenses low and have your savings last a long time. There is no better place for your money than the banking system in a foreign country like Belize. Many of the banks are paying up to 6% interest on U.S. dollar deposit savings accounts. How about that for a retirement plan! You can not beat the location of Belize. It is part of the Riveria Maya coastline with average temperatures year around in the 70's. The lifestyle is laid back and the people are some of the friendliest in the world. If you are interested in Belize as a possible second home destination, respond to this thread and we would be glad to help you with any questions your may have. You Better Belize it:) Rob
