Katie Couric Visited Belize Over The Winter

by Admin on April 12, 2013

Katie Couric brought her family down to Belize for a vacation over the New Year’s Holiday. She tweeted many times about how fascinated she was about many of the country's attractions. One of her great tweets was “Last day in Belize!! Went spelunking in the incredible ATM Cave! Wish I could have taken pics-Maya pots, skeletons from human sacrifices!!
ATM (Actun Tunichil Muknal) is part of a large network of ancient ceremonial caves used by the Mayans. It’s considered a relative newcomer to the Belize tourist nature scene. However, with famous American journalist like Katie Couric giving it major props, hotel/lodges near ATM like the Lodge at Chaa Creek, expect tourism to remain strong throughout the 2013 high season.
If you haven’t gone cave tubing before, I highly recommend it. A lot of times tour companies combine it with a zip-line adventure. This will definitely keep you busy for a whole day!
I don’t have the exact tweet, but Katie Couric mentioned how she swam with nurse sharks at the Belize Great Barrior Reef. You don’t have to go all the way to Australia to visit one of the world’s best reef systems. It’s only a two hour flight from Houston or Dallas.
If any of my readers need a reference for a tour company to see ATM or other sites, leave a comment below and I’ll be glad to help.
Safe travels to all:)
