Currency and Passports in Belize

by Admin on January 17, 2010

The Belize Dollar ($BZ) is the national currency in Belize. It's tied to the US Dollar ($US), and of course, many businesses and shops in Belize will also accept travellers checks and US currency. Money can be exchanged in most banks, travel agencies and hotels in Belize. Also, most major credit cards will be accepted. To be completely sure, check with your card provider before travelling, however. It's also noteworthy that many ATM machines in Belize don't accept foreign cards. If you're a US citizen, EU member citizen or Canadian, you won't need a visa to enter the country of Belize. However, your passport must be valid for at least 6 weeks after you enter Belize.
